Most “Soaps” Aren’t Really Soap. Here’s Why That Matters.

Hey friends 😊

Here’s something most people don’t realize:

A lot of what we call soap... isn’t soap at all.

Those plastic bottles at the store? The ones labeled “moisturizing hand soap” or “body soap”? Legally — and chemically — they’re not actually soap. Not even close.

So What Is Real Soap?

Real soap is made through a natural process called saponification. It happens when you mix a fat (like tallow or coconut oil) with lye. That chemical reaction creates actual soap — the kind that gently cleans without stripping your skin.

If there’s no fat or no lye, it’s not real soap. It’s usually a synthetic detergent. And most of the time, it comes loaded with:

  • Preservatives
  • Artificial colors and fragrances
  • Foaming agents and fillers

These synthetic ingredients can dry out your skin, irritate sensitive areas, and throw off your skin’s natural balance.

That’s Why We Keep It Simple.

At Cattle Creek, we stick to the basics — the way real soap is meant to be made.

Our Unscented Bar has just three ingredients:

  • 100% Grass-Fed Tallow
  • Lye
  • Water from our farm

Our Scented Bars use the same nourishing base — with a touch of real essential oils like lavender, vanilla, or clary sage.

No colorants. No lab-made ingredients. No synthetic anything.

Because Your Skin Deserves Real.

We believe in going back to the basics — because that’s where the best skincare starts.

Real ingredients. Real benefits. Real soap. 💛
